We are very pleased to announce the birth of a brand new podcast all about AFC Bournemouth, called “Back of the Net”. Presented by Sean Barker and Sam Davis, this weekly hour of radio aims to provide a bit of light relief after the weekends football, as well as a sideways look at the world of the Cherries, twinned with some interviews and behind the scenes features too.
The “magazine” format of our show will differ quite a big from the existing (and rather excellent) All Departments Podcast, and we hope it can complement Michael’s excellent vehicle, which already brings some top notch analysis after the weekends game.
Sean, who is a massive Bournemouth fan, thought of the idea one balmy morning in his home town of Wellington: “I really wanted to start something different which would hopefully be very light-hearted, yet feature packed too. Sad though it is, Bournemouth were always more likely to be losing this season than winning, there Back of the Net aims to put a few smiles on peoples faces, as well as focusing on activities outside of the first team – for example, on Episode 1, Sam is going to watch the Under 18’s and report back from Canford Magna”.
Both Sam and Sean are huge Bournemouth fans, and although in 2007, the geographical distance between Sean and his home-town club got that little bit more lengthy – his passion for the club is stronger than ever, and he hopes the podcast, co-presented with Sam, is going to help grow the profile of the football club: “My aim with the podcast is really to present club information in a really fresh and engaging way. Sam already has worked on websites on AFC Bournemouth, and when him and Jon ran Boscombe on the Web, it really was something which helped to bring lots of Cherries fans together, and we’re hoping this podcast and do the same”.
Back of the Net will be inviting fans on every week to be involved in their “Supporter Profile” feature, plus, we also hope to be getting regular vox-pops after the previous game, for a complete unadulterated view of the action.
